The Monument Hotel Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to all bookings made for or at The Monument Hotel.
By completing a booking the guest agrees to these terms and conditions.
We kindly ask you to read & understand them before making a booking.

The following definitions apply to these terms and conditions:

1.  Definitions

Company”, “staff” or “we” means The Monument Hotel

Booking” means a booking (reservation) for accommodation, functions and/or any other services or items provided by or made with us.

"Guest" means the person or persons making a reservation at or visiting The Monument Hotel.

Contract” means the booking and these terms, and any other terms and conditions that apply to the booking.

Hotel” means the premises for which your booking is made.

terms” means these terms and conditions.

Websites” means www.themonumenthotel.nl or any other affiliated website where it is possible to make a booking for The Monument Hotel.

BTW” means value added tax.

2.  Bookings 

2.1   All booking made for The Monument Hotel are subject to these terms and conditions. 

2.2   Prior to arrival, The Monument Hotel requires a booking to made via The Monument Hotel website, or a partner booking engine. 

2.3   The Monument Hotel retains the right to cancel or deny any booking.

 

3.  Charges 

3.1   The prices displayed on the website sare an average per room until a specific selection has been made. A minimum/maximum length of stay, deposit, modification/cancellation charge and other conditions may apply to certain rates, as specified. On the websites, once the room selection and length of stay selection has been made, the total amount to be charged will be displayed in the reservation summary.

3.2   Prices shall be charged in the local currency of the hotel (€). Any currency conversion tool displayed on the websites is only an approximation tool.

3.3   The BTW breakdown is indicative based on the current rate of BTW, and the expected BTW treatment of goods or services. BTW will be payable at the prevailing rate applicable at the taxpoint of the invoice or booking confirmation issued and may change depending on the actual rate and the BTW treatment of the good and services purchased at that date.

3.4   The city tax, as determined by the municipality of The Hague, will be payable upon arrival to the hotel. City tax applies to every person staying in the Hotel over the age of 13. The city of The Hague has set this tax to be €5,35 per person per night. The Monument Hotel is not responsible for any change in the rate the city council enforces.

3.5   The prices of the rooms may fluctuate from day to day. The Monument Hotel is not responsible for any changes in prices or any deviance between prices displayed on websites and prices at the reception.

 

4.  Check in / Check out requirements

4.1   In the interests of security and fraud prevention, at the time of check in, guests will be asked to confirm their identity by providing their passport, identity card, driving licence and/or booking reference.

4.2   Unless otherwise agreed with staff,guests may check in any time between 15.00 upon the scheduled day of arrivaluntil 23.00. All rooms that have been secured by a booking, will be held until 23.00 on the scheduled day of arrival, unless otherwise agreed with staff.

4.3   On the day of departure, we ask all guests to vacate their rooms by 11.00. If a guest does not check out at or before 11.00, The Monument Hotel reserves the right to charge an extra room night.

4.4   Rooms are subject to maximum occupancy rules set by the hotel. If guests exceed this amount, without the consent of the hotel, The Monument Hotel reserves the right to charge an extra room night.

4.5   We have a tourist only policy at TheMonument Hotel. It is at the liberty of the staff to cancel any booking, providing the situation requires this.

4.6   With regards to long stay bookings, arrangements can be made with the management of The Monument Hotel. Without contact or prior agreement, the maximum duration of one guests’ stay shall be 10 nights.

 

5.  Payment 

5.1   The Monument Hotel accepts the following methods of payment: cash, bank transfer, online payment via supported online travel agents, debit card or credit card.

5.2   The Monument Hotel accepts the following debit or credit cards: Mastercard, VISA, Maestro, V-pay and Visa Electron.

5.3   Payment for the entire booking (including city tax) will be collected in full prior to the check in. If partially paid before arrival, the remaining balance will be completed at thereception. If fully paid before arrival, only the city tax will be collected. When a booking is extended, the payment should be done when the initial booking expires.

5.4   No guest shall be permitted to stay without full payment for their booking.

 

6.  Cancellation policy and no shows

 6.1   The cancellation policy will vary bybooking method.

6.2   When making a booking directly at the reception, after the point of payment, no refund will be granted.

6.3   All bookings made through www.themonumenthotel.nl are non-refundable. However, when abooking is made by the website of the hotel, and occupation allows, it is possible to select a different date for the stay. However, this is not always possible and must be discussed with The Monument Hotel staff. In the case of a no-show, with no prior communication with the hotel staff, no refund or date change willbe offered.

6.4   Regarding bookings made through our affiliated partner websites, each is subject to its own cancellation policy and is detailed on each of said partner websites. It is the guests own responsibility to read these policies before making a reservation.

7.  Changes or cancellation by the company 

7.1   In the occasional circumstance where The Monument Hotel needs to cancel a guests booking due to availability issues, a full refund will beprovided. The Monument Hotel holds no further liability for the situations arising out of such a cancellation. The Monument Hotel may, however, use reasonable endeavours to try and re-locate any confirmed booking, cancelled by the hotel, to an alternative location of a similar standard to the hotel.

7.2   The Monument Hotel is able to change the room type of any booking due to operational or safety reasons. If the guestis reallocated to a room with a lower rate, The Monument Hotel will refund the difference in room rates.

 

8.  Damage

8.1   The Monument Hotel reserves the right to charge a guests debit or credit card for any damage to the property incurred by that guest during their stay. Through agreement to these terms the guest is hereby authorising The Monument Hotel to make this charge when necessary. Damages pertain to the room, hotel or for missing property, with the inclusion of specialistcleaning costs.

 

9. Parking

9.1 The Monument Hotel has limited parking available. Guests must contact our staff prior to their arrival in order toreserve a parking space. The Monument Hotel reserves the right to set the pric eof these spots as they wish and are subject to check-in and check-out times.

 

10.   Hotel Etiquette: The Monument Hotelhouse rules

10.1 Guest behaviour: At all times guests are required to conduct themselves appropriately and to comply with The Monument Hotels company procedures. Moreover, guests must act in a respectful manner, by not causing offence or harm to other guests or staff, by not disrupting the hotels procedures and or comfort or enjoyment of other guests. Guests are required to adhere to staff requests regarding their behaviour and cleanliness, respect for property, guests and their health and safety. When a guest has broken these etiquette requirements, The Monument Hotel retains the right to refuse accommodation and/or services from the person or persons in question. The Monument Hotel will provide no refund for the remaining nights of a guests stay and holds no liability for loss of services if the above rule is broken.

10.2 Respect: It is required for guests to be respectful of all cultures, religions and sexual orientations. Failure to do so will result in termination of their booking with no refund.

10.3 Night-time: After 11.00pm (23.00) The Monument Hotel requires guests to keep the noise to a minimum. This is to ensure the qualityof other guests’ experience and to be respectful to our neighbours.

10.4 No smoking: Smoking inside the hotel is prohibited in all areas and rooms. Failure to abide by this rule will lead to termination of booking with no refund. Additionally, there will be a fine of 250EUR. If the fire alarm is activated through smoking or covering of a smoke alarm, therewill also be a fine of 250EUR. The Monument Hotel retains the right to chargethe provided credit or debit card for this amount. Through the acceptance ofthese terms the guest is hereby authorising The Monument Hotel to make this charge when necessary.

10.5 Extra guests: Bringing extra guests into the hotel is strictly prohibited. When this rule is broken, guests will be charged with the full price for the extra person. The Monument Hotel retains the right to terminate the remaining guests booking with no refund.

10.6 Drugs: Hard drugs are strictly forbidden in all areas of The Monument Hotel. Any persons found to be in possession of such drugs will immediately remove from the hotel with no refund for any remaining nights booked.

10.7 Pets: It is not allowed to bring pets to stay at the Monument Hotel.

11.   Security cameras

The Monument Hotel has a fully functioning camera system running 24 hours a day for guest and company security. We retain the right to use our own footage in whichever reasonable way is needed.

 

12.   Children

All children (a persons under the age of 18) staying in the hotel must be accompanied by an adult and remain in the responsibility of this adult for the entire length of booking. Alternatively,  persons of the age of 16-18 are permitted to stay with written consent from a parent or legal guardian.

Cots and extra beds are available in most rooms, however, these are limited and must be arranged with the staff prior tothe day of arrival. Additional charges may apply.

 

13.   Pets

No pets are allowed in the hotel.

 

14.   Force Majeure

The Monument Hotel accepts no liability and will not pay any compensation where the performance of its obligations is prevented or affected directly, or indirectly, by or as a result of, force majeure. This also applies to any circumstances beyond its reasonable control including, but not limited to, flood, earthquake, extremeadverse weather conditions, natural disasters, other acts of God, acts ofterrorism, fire or failure of electric power, gas, water, or other utility service, plant machinery, computers, electronics, vehicles or any collapse ofbeds and/or building structures.

 

15.   Limitation of Liability

The Monument Hotel will not be responsible for the loss or damage of any property left inside the hotel.

The Monument hotel will not be liable for any indirect, consequential or pure economic loss, or any loss of profit, goodwill or opportunity (whether caused by negligence of the company, its employees, contractor or agents or otherwise). The company’s total liability shall not exceed the value of the charges received by it under the Contract.

 

16.   Website information

 While all reasonable efforts have been taken to ensure the accuracy of information on the websites, The Monument Hotel does not accept responsibility for errors or omissions, and reserves the right to amend, cancel or vary any of the arrangements featured on the websites without notice. Please note that in certain circumstances,  generic photographic images have been used to represent the general style of a particular product or hotel.

The content of the websites is the copyright of The Monument Hotel, and isnot be copied, reproduced, published, distributed or amended by third parties for any other purpose without our prior written consent.

 Trademarks used on the websites are the property of the responsive owners. Hyperlinks to third party websites are provided for your convenience. We cannot accept responsibility for the content or use of third party sites.

 

17.   Corona-virus measures

 The Monument Hotel takesprecautions to prevent the spread of corona virus to the best of its abilityand in keeping with current advice from the Dutch Government.
